Mario is a VG LEGEND, he has apperared in TONS of games. He may not be as powerful as link but he gets the job done. Yet he wasnt mario a long time ago, he was Jump Man. Jump Man is mario but that was his first name when he first apereared on Donkey Kong. When the creators made Donkey Kong it was the creators joke. The game was a just a joke he came up, sort of like an accident but people LOVED THE GAME which gave mario his popularity. An accident lead to being famous. Now thats amazing... Mario must save princess peach in about all of his games. Yet Bowser causes an obstacal that he has to overcome. Each game is like that which must make it really tireding for him. People love playing mario game across the globe.
